North American Association for Environmental Education _________________________ NAAEE's 35th Annual Conference will be a gathering of over 1,000 educators in Minnesota, at the headwaters of two major water systems, Red River of the North and the Mississippi River, as well as the highest point of the Great Lakes. Session formats will include pre-conference workshops, field trips, hands-on activities, presentations, poster sessions, and keynote addresses. In addition to 2-3 keynote speakers, the 2006 conference will feature a Water Issues Panel focused on the significant environmental challenges facing all watersheds today, such as pollution, invasive species, water rights, and cross-governmental jurisdictions. The Great Lakes will serve as a model for the dialogue. The five strands for this year are: Sustainability; Conservation and Community Education; EE Leadership Skills; Schools, Education, Achievement, and Literacy; and Joining Forces: Environmental Justice, Health, and Education. NAAEE intends to offer one or more presentations in each concurrent session in Spanish and French for our international audience. Due to budgetary restrictions, formal translation will not be available, but informal translation will be provided to the extent that volunteers are available. If you would like to volunteer to serve as an informal translator, please contact Jose Marcos-Iga (Pepe) at jmarcos-iga@eeexchange.org (Spanish) or Diane Pruneau at prunead@moncton.ca (French). Please refer to updates on translation services, scholarships and registration on the conference Web site at www.naaee.org/pages/conferences/index.html |
