Guidelines for Excellence in Nonformal Environmental Education Programs Available in Spanish

__________f

The Nonformal Environmental Education Programs: Guidelines for Excellence publication was premiered for the first time in Spanish at the V Meeting on the Border Environment in Rosarito, Baja California to more than 50 workshop attendees who were introduced to this best practices model, developed by the North American Environmental Education Association's (NAAEE) National Project for Excellence in Environmental Education (NPEEE).

_____

The three hour workshop presented the material through group activities and allowed the participants to look at their own programs through the eyeglass of these guidelines. Many of the participants came from conservation organizations and community groups, and they shared examples of how their programs would be benefited by the use of these guidelines.

The booklet presents a set of recommendations for developing and administering high quality nonformal environmental education programs. These recommendations provide a tool that can be used to ensure a firm foundation for new programs or to trigger improvements in existing ones. These guidelines can help you make a detailed assessment of your EE programs' overall efficiency and lead to valuable shifts in program content and dissemination strategies.

___________

Nonformal Environmental Education Programs: Guidelines for Excellence is part of a series developed by NAAEE. This is the second set of guidelines to be available in Spanish, along with the Environmental Education Materials: Guidelines for Excellence, which concentrates on formal EE. If you are interested in the whole collection in English, visit www.naaee.org/npeee. For more information on how to get these sets in Spanish send an email to jmarcos-iga@eeexchange.org
