Host a Local EE and Diversity Workshop

_______________________

The Environmental Education and Training Partnership (EETAP) and Intercambios are once again offering limited number of professional development diversity workshops for environmental educators. The workshops offer an opportunity to explore multicultural issues as they occur in the real world of environmental education.

During a typical workshop, participants examine the attributes of culture and review the stages of cultural competency. Participants then examine dilemmas faced by environmental educators when working with diverse groups by reading and discussing a case. The case discussion approach is ideally suited for individuals and groups that want to examine changes needed to work more effectively with diverse audiences. Participants will practice cultural competency skills through "hands-on" activities and simulations. They will also identify changes needed to work with diverse groups.

The six-hour workshop is best suited as a stand-alone event for an organization or group. EETAP and Intercambios will work with your group or organization to design a workshop that best meets your needs.

EETAP covers facilitator fees for planning and conducting the workshop plus resource materials. The local organization hosting the event agrees to look after local arrangements and cover travel costs for two facilitators and local workshop costs. If you are interested in hosting a diversity workshop please contact Lisa LaRocque at Intercambios for details (Intercambios@zianet.com) or 505-522-7511.
