BECC at the World Water Forum

The Border Environmental Cooperation Commission was present at the IV World Water Forum, which took place in Mexico City, March 16 to 22. This forum gathered more than 13,000 water experts from over 160 nations and had important outcomes for the management and policy of water.

The proposals made during the thematic sessions, where 1,600 local actions were presented, gather recommendations and reflections that will undoubtedly serve to strengthen the planning and administration of water services around the world.

The General Administrator from BECC pointed this during a joint work with the North America Development Bank (NABD) about the importance of community participation in the management of water on the U.S.-Mexico border and the role of BECC and NABD, presented as a successful action in water management. This local action, approved by the Forum's Technical Secretariat was presented at the thematic session on Public Policy for Water Treatment on March 19 to more than 2,000 experts.
