Anne Marie is a second generation San Diegan, has
a degree in Zoology and has completed coursework for a Masters
in Ecology from San Diego State University. She was a field biologist/
ecologist for most of her career. Her first California State
Park position, however, was at Tijuana Estuary in the mid-90’s
where she was a seasonal interpreter. That’s was where she
got the environmental education “bug.” After a four
year stint as the Resource Ecologist at Oceano Dunes State Vehicular
Recreation Area, she came back to her hometown San Diego to be
a State Park Interpreter at Old Town San Diego State Historic Park
where she enjoyed planning and becoming living history characters.
Her State Park career came full circle in January 2003 when she
became the Education Coordinator at the Tijuana Estuary Visitor
Center. Anne Marie is committed to enhancing the Reserve’s
role as a resource to the watershed by providing programming,
events, and materials for the Tecate, Tijuana, and Imperial Beach/San
Diego areas. With her experience in cultural and environmental
education, she hopes to continue to educate folks with an interdisciplinary
approach.
